27/11/2011 'COMUNIDAD DE MADRID' RALLY
Group N win and fourth overall for José Antonio Suarez and Cándido Carrera.

A great result for José Antonio Suarez and Cándido Carrera in the 'Comunidad de Madrid' rally, the last event of the Spanish Tarmac Rally Championship. At the wheel of a Mitsubishi EVO X run by ARVidal, José antonio finished fourth overall, just a few seconds away from the podium, winning both the group N and the Junior category.

In a rally where the three special stages held at the circuit of Jarama were very favourable to the GT class cars, José Antonio again showed his speed and despite not having driven a car like the EVO X N+ since last year, he was fighting for the top positions from the start.

After completing the short first leg on Friday evening, the young Pravia-born driver was already third overall, but it during the Saturday morning stages, held on Madrid hills, where he really showed his skills. A second fastest time in the first run through Canencia, just 8 tenths behind the unreachable Porsche of Vallejo, followed by very good time in the next two stages, put José Antonio very close to second position. Unluckily, a problem with the engine temperature of his EVO in the final run through Morcuera meant he was demoted to fourth, albeit still less than 9 seconds behind second and only 2 tenths shy of third when the rally arrived to the midday regrouping at the circuit of Jarama.

With two of the three final stages being run on the track, the chances to fight for the podium were depending on some mistakes by his rivals which didn't happen, so the positions remained unchanged in the final part of the rally, finishing with José Antonio and Cándido fourth overall and first both in the group N and the Junior categories.

All in all, the outcome of this comeback to the Spanish Championship was very good for José Antonio, he fought closely with the main contenders of the series, his times on the stages run outside the circuit were the second fastest, which clearly shows his chances of battling with the top names of the Spanish Championship.

After this very positive weekend at the Rally of Madrid, José Antonio is now facing, next Saturday the 3rd of December, a very special challenge: driving the Norma BMW sportscar of Andrés Vilariño in the Motorshow to be run at Olaberria's circuit.
